POSITION SUMMARY

As the Vice President, Manufacturing, you will provide executive leadership for MCI manufacturing operations across the Winnipeg and Pembina facilities, with responsibility for Production, Manufacturing Engineering, Facilities, Maintenance, Process Planning, Tooling, and Lean. Reporting directly to the President of MCI, you will play a key role in shaping manufacturing strategy and overall business performance.

You will translate business priorities into manufacturing strategy, operating plans, and measurable outcomes that strengthen safety, quality, delivery, cost, productivity, workforce capability, customer satisfaction, and long-term operational performance. You will also lead the continued advancement of operational excellence across MCI manufacturing, building the systems, leadership capability, and discipline required to support current operations and future growth.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Provide executive leadership for manufacturing operations across Production, Manufacturing Engineering, Facilities, Maintenance, Process Planning, Tooling, and Lean.
  • Establish manufacturing strategy, annual operating plans, long-range priorities, and performance objectives aligned with business growth, safety, quality, delivery, cost, productivity, and capacity requirements.
  • Lead manufacturing execution to ensure products are built safely, on schedule, to established quality standards, and at the lowest practical cost.
  • Strengthen production systems, workflows, and operating discipline to improve consistency, efficiency, and overall manufacturing performance.
  • Champion a proactive culture of safety, quality, accountability, and continuous improvement across manufacturing operations, including serving as a member of the Executive Safety Council.
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators across safety, quality, delivery, cost, productivity, and labour efficiency, using performance results to drive Lean, continuous improvement, cost reduction, waste elimination, and operational transformation.
  • Working in partnership with Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, Human Resources, Finance, EHS, and other key teams, align manufacturing plans with business priorities, workforce needs, material availability, and customer commitments.
  • Build manufacturing leadership capability through workforce planning, leadership development, succession planning, training, labour resource planning, employee engagement, and effective labour relations.
  • Oversee manufacturing readiness, capacity planning, capital prioritization, equipment reliability, maintenance, tooling, facility improvements, production layouts, and ramp-up activities supporting current and future operational needs.
  • Own manufacturing cost performance and operational risk management, including labour utilization, overtime, productivity, scrap, rework, capital spending, equipment reliability, supply constraints, regulatory compliance, and business continuity.
  • Ensure Internal Controls over Financial Reporting (ICFR) within the scope of the role are appropriately designed and operating as required.
  • Ensure policies, processes, and controls are established and followed to meet applicable regulatory and legal requirements, including organizational quality, environmental, health, and safety programs.

WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL

  • 7+ years of progressive leadership experience within a complex manufacturing environment, preferably in large-scale assembly, heavy manufacturing, transportation equipment, motorcoach, or bus manufacturing.
  • Post-secondary education in Engineering, Operations Management, Business, Manufacturing, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and senior manufacturing leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated experience leading large manufacturing organizations through change, including developing senior leaders, strengthening succession pipelines, building organizational capability, and driving accountability and engagement.
  • Strong knowledge of complex manufacturing operations, with demonstrated experience leading Lean, continuous improvement, productivity, cost reduction, capacity planning, and operational transformation while balancing immediate priorities with longer-term manufacturing strategy and investment needs.
  • Experience operating in a unionized manufacturing environment and working effectively across Human Resources, EHS, Quality, Engineering, Supply Chain, Materials, and Finance.
  • Strong business and financial acumen, with demonstrated ability to use operational data to set performance expectations, manage labour and capital priorities, identify risks, and translate business objectives into measurable manufacturing results.
  • Strong executive communication and influencing skills, with the ability to align senior leaders and cross-functional partners around priorities, decisions, and performance expectations.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety, product quality, customer requirements, and regulatory compliance.

Requirements

  • NFI Group maintains a drug-free workplace in accordance with applicable laws and contractual requirements.
  • Ability to travel between 20-25%; must be eligible to travel within Canada and the United States.
