Job Purpose
Research & Product Development Manager will help oversee the research and product development process and insure that research process is efficient and ensure highest quality levels and the research results are continually reviewed.
Key Accountabilities
- Assist in planning for carrying out a particular research agenda. A research & Product DevelopmentSR Officer is expected to contribute in many ways to the research project, typical responsibilities include the following:
- Designs policy-relevant research on how developing products, improving practices outcomes and developing innovative approaches to promote Islamic Finance.
- Designs and coordinates/conducts policy-relevant research on other aspects of Islamic Finance, as agreed with the Head of Shari’a and with a likely focus on product development issues.
- Write research reports designed to influence the policy and practice of practitioners and decision \ policy makers with in the institution and submit it to Shari’a Head.
- Organizes meetings and ensuring that research members receive the information necessary to support them in their role.
- Support the implementation and development of new products and developing current products.
- Monitor outputs of research and use this information to promote Islamic Finance practices and improve the management.
- Satisfactory behaviour and attitude plus sensitivity reduced to its minimal level according to the competencies defined by the Sharia approving authorities (as per the Assignment Performance Appraisal).
- Complying with the Shari’a Board’s resolutions in the structuring & review of documents; and providing consultations.
- Maintain excellent teamwork environment and team spirit.
- Achieve excellent knowledge of ADIB processes, policy & procedures and AAOIFI/IIA standards.
- Understand/improve working knowledge on all automated Shari’a tools.
- Maintain excellent, efficient and professional oral and written communication skills.
- Whenever requested, plan and/or participate in special reviews (related to Shari’a). During the special review, assist in determining the circumstances which enabled such situations, identify responsibility for any losses or failures to comply with Shari’a policy & procedure and provide recommendations for line management review.
- Conduct training sessions/workshops when requested by the line management on Shari’a related issues.
- In coordination with line management, train new/existing staff on Shari’a related issues Develop training plan in coordination with line management, monitor effectiveness and achievements.
- As and when requested, participate in meetings, serving/responding to internal/external queries and/or questions, consultations, other requirements.
- Whenever requested by line management, review new and/or changes to bank’s policies and procedures (related to Shari’a) in order to evaluate the Shari’a control adequacy and related risk mitigation.
- Assist the line management (when requested) in updating the annual Shari’a manual.
- Comply with any additional tasks which could be assigned by the line management.
Qualifications
- A recognized degree or equivalent professional qualification in Shari’a, Fiqh, Usul al-Fiqh or Fiqh Mu'amalat;
- To have a minor in Islamic Economics, Finance, Banking, Accounting or Legal would be an additional advantage for the candidate.
- Ability to analyze complex information from different sources and to synthesize this information into briefing notes.
- 8+ Years’ Experience in Senior Levels.
- Good command of spoken and written in English and Arabic.
- Result driven, independent and highly motivated.
- Hardworking and team player. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with practitioners, policy-makers and researchers.
- Fully Computer literate.
- Editorial and publishing skills.
