Role Summary

You will own the Group's cost controlling framework across both organic and acquired entities. Your primary mission is to bring newly acquired companies into a single, comparable Group costing and margin-reporting model, while working in a matrix with the local finance and controlling teams that manage day-to-day operations.

You will act as the Finance integration lead for cost and product profitability, ensuring that from Day 1 every entity reports on the same definitions, the same cost structure and the same margin logic.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and maintain a single Group costing methodology — standard cost, cost element structure, absorption logic and variance definitions — applied consistently across all entities.
  • Own the Group definitions of cost, margin and product profitability, and drive the convergence of acquired entities to the Group model, including transition steps and interim reporting bridges.
  • Act as cost controlling lead in the Finance integration of newly acquired entities, from due diligence support through to full integration.
  • Build and maintain a repeatable cost integration playbook: Day 1 reporting requirements, master-data prerequisites, milestones and sign-off criteria.
  • Support purchase price allocation, opening balance sheet and inventory valuation exercises, in cooperation with Group Reporting and the external auditors.
  • Identify and quantify cost synergies and integration costs and track their realization against the deal business case.
  • Monitor and analyze product cost across the Group's manufacturing sites vs. actual variances, yield, scrap, WIP and capacity absorption.
  • Provide cost input for tender pricing, make-or-buy decisions, intercompany pricing and transfer pricing documentation.
  • Deliver monthly Group cost and margin reporting by product line and by entity, with clear commentary on drivers and deviations.
  • Own the cost side of the annual Group budget and of the rolling forecasts, including standard cost setting and revision, manufacturing overheads and capacity assumptions; challenge the budgets submitted by local teams and prepare the budget–forecast–actual bridges.
  • Provide the cost baseline for the business plan, long-range plan and investment cases, including sensitivity analysis, and integrate newly acquired entities into the Group budgeting calendar and templates.
  • Work in a matrix with local finance, controlling and operations teams — setting the standards, reviewing and challenging their output, coaching local cost controllers, and ensuring a clear audit trail for cost assumptions and changes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Engineering or a related field; Master's degree or professional certification (CIMA, CMA, ACCA, CPA) is a strong plus.
  • 8+ years of experience in cost controlling within a manufacturing environment, of which at least 2–3 years in a multi-entity or group context.
  • Demonstrated involvement in post-merger integration, carve-outs or the harmonisation of costing models across entities.
  • Solid understanding of IFRS as it relates to inventory, cost capitalisation and business combinations.
  • Strong ERP experience; exposure to Microsoft Dynamics 365 is an advantage, as is experience operating in a fragmented systems landscape.
  • Advanced analytical and data skills; ability to build structured models and reconcile inconsistent data sources.
  • Fluency in English; ability to work effectively with teams in multiple countries.
  • Willingness to travel to Group sites in Europe and beyond.
