The Dean of the School of Computing is a senior academic leader responsible for shaping and implementing the School’s strategic vision and ensuring academic excellence, innovation, programme consistency, and a high-quality student experience.
The Dean provides academic and strategic leadership across the School’s programmes, ensuring alignment with current developments in Computing, industry needs, academic standards, and regulatory requirements. The role involves leading curriculum development and innovation, supporting and developing academic teams, strengthening partnerships with industry and academic institutions, and contributing to the School’s continuous growth and reputation.
Role Accountabilities
- Strategic planning and development of the School of Computing
- Academic quality assurance and programme consistency
- Curriculum development, innovation, and enhancement
- Academic team leadership, support, and development
- Student experience, success, and employability enhancement
- Development of partnerships with industry, professional bodies, and academic institutions
- Monitoring of programme performance and promotion of continuous improvement
You will be an ideal candidate for this role if you
- Hold a Doctoral Degree in Computer Science, Computing, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity, or a related discipline.
- Have a minimum of 8–10 years of senior leadership experience in Higher Education, preferably within Computing or a closely related academic discipline.
- Have proven academic leadership and team management experience within Higher Education, ideally at Head, Associate Dean, Dean, or Director level.
- Demonstrate a strong track record in Computing education, curriculum development, academic quality, and programme innovation.
- Have experience in implementing strategic development and transformation initiatives within Higher Education.
- Possess up-to-date knowledge of Higher Education trends, quality assurance, accreditation standards, regulatory frameworks, and academic development.
- Demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to build effective relationships with academic teams and key internal and external stakeholders.
- Have the ability to lead, develop, and inspire academic teams while promoting innovation and academic excellence.
