Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Ophthalmologist role based in Masqaţ, Oman. The Ophthalmologist will perform comprehensive eye examinations, diagnose and manage ocular diseases, and provide medical and surgical treatment to patients. Daily responsibilities include assessing visual function, prescribing corrective lenses, planning and performing ophthalmic surgeries, and managing pre- and post-operative care.

The role involves using diagnostic equipment, lasers, and other specialized tools, maintaining accurate medical records, and collaborating with multidisciplinary healthcare teams. The Ophthalmologist will also counsel patients and families on treatment options, preventive eye care, and follow-up plans in line with clinical guidelines and institutional policies.

Qualifications

• Strong foundation in Medicine with a recognized medical degree and a valid license or eligibility to practice in Oman.
• Advanced clinical expertise in Ophthalmology, including diagnosis and management of a wide range of eye conditions.
• Skills in Optometry-related assessments, including refraction, visual acuity measurement, and prescription of corrective lenses.
• Proficiency in Laser-based ophthalmic procedures and familiarity with relevant diagnostic and therapeutic technologies.
• Competence in Ophthalmic Surgery, including common anterior and posterior segment procedures and perioperative patient care.
• Prior experience in hospital or specialized eye care settings; fellowship or specialization in a subspecialty (e.g., cornea, retina, glaucoma) is an advantage.
• Strong clinical decision-making, patient communication, and documentation skills, with commitment to ethical and evidence-based practice.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural environment, adapt to local regulatory requirements, and maintain continuous professional development.
