- Electrical Discipline Leadership Lead the electrical engineering team across assigned projects. Allocate engineering activities to electrical engineers and designers based on project priorities and competence. Provide technical direction, mentoring and support to electrical team members. Review workload and resource requirements and report requirements to management. Monitor engineering productivity and deliverable progress. Ensure consistent technical standards and engineering practices are implemented across projects. Support recruitment, technical interviews and assessment of electrical engineering candidates when required. Support professional development and competency improvement within the electrical team. 2. Electrical Design Management Lead and oversee the development of electrical designs for buildings and infrastructure, including as applicable: Medium-voltage power distribution. Low-voltage power distribution. Utility electrical connections. Primary and secondary substations. Package and unit substations. Transformers. MV and LV switchgear. Main and sub-main distribution systems. Motor-control centres. Emergency power systems. Diesel generators. UPS systems. Battery systems. Automatic transfer systems. Lighting systems. External and street lighting. Emergency lighting. Small-power systems. Earthing and grounding systems. Lightning protection. Cable distribution systems. Cable containment systems. Infrastructure cable corridors. Electrical duct banks. Electrical manholes. Power distribution to utility and infrastructure facilities. Power interfaces with mechanical and process systems. Renewable-energy and photovoltaic-system interfaces where applicable. EV-charging infrastructure where applicable. 3. Electrical Engineering Calculations Ensure preparation and independent technical review of calculations including: Electrical load schedules. Maximum-demand calculations. Diversity calculations. Transformer sizing. Generator sizing. UPS sizing. Cable sizing. Voltage-drop calculations. Short-circuit calculations. Protection coordination and selectivity. Arc-flash studies where required. Earthing-system calculations. Lightning-protection calculations. Lighting calculations. Emergency-lighting calculations. Harmonic assessments. Power-quality assessments. Motor-starting assessments where applicable. Capacitor-bank and power-factor-correction calculations. Ensure appropriate engineering software and methodologies are used and calculations are independently checked before issue. 4. Design Deliverables Lead preparation and review of: Design Basis Reports. Design criteria. Technical specifications. Electrical single-line diagrams. Electrical load schedules. Equipment schedules and data sheets. Electrical layouts. Lighting layouts. Earthing layouts. Lightning-protection layouts. Cable-routing drawings. Infrastructure electrical layouts. Utility interface drawings. Substation layouts. Equipment-room layouts. Cable schedules. Interface schedules. Bills of Quantities. Material specifications. Tender documentation. Technical reports. Authority submission packages. 5. Saudi Regulatory and Authority Compliance Ensure designs comply with applicable requirements including: Saudi Building Code, including applicable requirements of SBC 401 – Saudi Electrical Code . Saudi Electricity Company requirements and engineering standards. Saudi Arabian Distribution Code where applicable. Saudi Grid Code where applicable. Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu standards where applicable. Project-specific authority requirements. Saudi Civil Defense requirements where applicable. SASO requirements are applicable to electrical equipment and products. International standards shall be applied where applicable and where consistent with project and Saudi requirements, including: IEC IEEE NFPA NEC/NFPA 70 where contractually applicable BS/BS EN NEMA Relevant ISO standards. The Lead Electrical Engineer shall identify any conflicts between standards and ensure that the governing project requirement is clearly established. 6. SEC and Utility Coordination Lead technical coordination with Saudi Electricity Company and other electricity providers. Determine electrical utility connection requirements. Coordinate load applications and utility demand requirements. Support development of utility connection strategies. Coordinate requirements for substations, metering and interface points. Lead responses to utility-provider technical comments. Attend technical meetings with SEC and other authorities. Monitor electrical approval status and support timely closure of outstanding comments. 7. Multidisciplinary Coordination Coordinate electrical requirements with: Architecture. Structural. Civil. Mechanical. HVAC. Public Health. Fire & Life Safety. Telecom and ICT. Security. Infrastructure. Utilities. Landscape. Process engineering where applicable. The Lead Electrical Engineer shall ensure: Electrical rooms are appropriately sized and located.
