This position involves leading mechanical utilities engineering projects from conception through completion, with emphasis on project management controls and advanced design expertise. The Senior Engineer will manage project scope, budget, and schedule while delivering innovative engineering solutions for complex mechanical systems. **
Key Responsibilities
** Lead and manage engineering projects within defined budget and schedule parameters, demonstrating strong project management and controls discipline Develop comprehensive project plans, timelines, and resource allocation strategies to ensure timely delivery of engineering deliverables Perform advanced engineering design work, including calculations, specifications, and detailed design documentation for mechanical utilities systems Independently execute all primary design elements and technical analyses necessary to complete engineering works Gather, correlate, and analyze engineering data using established procedures and design methodologies to inform design decisions Propose innovative design approaches to solve complex problems by applying and modifying standard procedures based on previous project experience Identify discrepancies in design results and implement corrective actions to ensure design integrity Develop and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including design calculations, specifications, engineering reports, and design justifications Ensure all designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and regulatory requirements (ASME, ANSI, local building codes) Conduct quality assurance reviews and oversee testing protocols to verify design integrity and system functionality Collaborate with cross-functional teams including operations, maintenance, and project management to optimize system performance, reliability, and design efficiency Mentor and provide technical guidance to entry-level engineers on design concepts, engineering best practices, and project execution Recommend process improvements and design enhancements for mechanical utility systems based on performance analysis and lessons learned Manage project risks and implement mitigation strategies to maintain project control and delivery excellence
Qualifications
** Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline Minimum 10-15 years of professional engineering experience in mechanical utilities or related systems Demonstrated expertise in advanced mechanical design with proven ability to independently execute complex design projects from conception through completion Extensive experience with Project Management Controls (PMC), including project planning, budget management, schedule development, and scope control Proficiency in engineering calculations, design software, and CAD applications Strong knowledge of mechanical codes, standards, and regulatory requirements (ASME, ANSI, local building codes) Demonstrated experience developing technical documentation, design calculations, and comprehensive engineering reports Solid understanding of mechanical utility systems design, installation, and operation Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to identify and implement corrective actions Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to work independently and manage multiple complex tasks within budget and schedule constraints Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams in a professional engineering environment **
Preferred Qualifications
** Professional Engineer (PE) license or eligibility for licensure Advanced project management certification or formal PMC training Experience mentoring or providing technical guidance to junior engineers Familiarity with quality assurance protocols and testing methodologies Background in process improvement and system optimization Experience with project planning and scheduling tools Knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, or other mechanical utility systems
