QAQC Mechanical Engineer specializing in fit-out projects with expertise in quality assurance, quality control, and commissioning of mechanical systems during interior finishing phases.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct comprehensive inspections and walk-downs of mechanical fit-out installations including HVAC systems, plumbing, fire protection systems, and equipment to verify conformance with design specifications and construction standards. Perform quality assurance and quality control testing protocols including pressure testing, flushing, and TAB (Testing, Adjusting, and Balancing) records verification for all mechanical systems.
Verify proper installation of mechanical supports, hangers, and ancillary services in accordance with engineering drawings and project specifications. Independently evaluate and apply standard engineering techniques and procedures to assess mechanical fit-out work quality and identify non-conformances. Prepare detailed inspection reports, quantity surveys, and compliance documentation for tracking, reporting, and project closeout.
Coordinate with fit-out contractors and mechanical installers to ensure adherence to specifications and timely resolution of deficiencies. Exercise sound professional judgment in assessing mechanical systems performance and recommending corrective actions. Provide technical guidance and direction to technicians, inspectors, and support personnel on fit-out mechanical quality standards and testing procedures.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline from an ABET-accredited program Minimum 10 years of professional experience in mechanical engineering, with at least 5 years specifically focused on quality assurance, quality control, and commissioning of mechanical systems in fit-out or interior finishing projects Demonstrated expertise in inspecting and testing HVAC systems, plumbing systems, fire protection systems, and mechanical equipment installations Proficiency in pressure testing, system flushing, TAB (Testing, Adjusting, and Balancing) procedures, and commissioning protocols Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering design standards, construction specifications, and industry best practices Proven ability to prepare detailed inspection reports, compliance documentation, and technical assessments Excellent communication and coordination skills with contractors, installers, and project teams
Preferred Qualifications
Advanced degree (Master's) in Mechanical Engineering or related field Certification in commissioning (CCP) or equivalent professional certification Experience with Building Information Modeling (BIM) and mechanical design software Track record of managing large-scale fit-out projects in commercial or institutional settings Experience mentoring and supervising junior engineers and technical personnel
