The Role
We are looking for a Finance Operations Specialist to join our growing Finance team in Barcelona. This is a hands-on position that will expose you to all the key processes of a high-impact Finance team in a B2B SaaS Fintech startup.
You will take ownership of a broad range of day-to-day finance activities while helping us strengthen processes, controls, reporting and the overall quality of our financial information.
This is not a purely transactional role. As the Finance function evolves, there will be significant opportunities to improve existing processes, automate recurring activities and take on broader responsibilities.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Month-End Close: Take deep, hands-on personal ownership of the month-end closing process from end to end.
- Accounts Payable: Manage invoice processing, supplier reconciliations, coding, and payment runs.
- Accounts Receivable & Collections: Oversee invoicing, customer reconciliations, ageing reports, and take an active, proactive approach to collections.
- Core Accounting: Manage day-to-day bookkeeping, journals, accruals, prepayments, and deferred revenue/income.
- Reconciliations: Perform bank, balance sheet, P&L, and general ledger account reconciliations with high accuracy.
- Process Improvements: Continuously question the status quo. Bring a track record of identifying bottlenecks and implementing practical process improvements or automation.
- Systems & Data: Confidently navigate ERP systems and use advanced Excel skills to manipulate, reconcile, and extract value from large datasets.
Other areas you’ll have exposure to
While the primary focus is operational execution, exposure to these areas is a plus:
- Reporting & Analysis: Variance analysis, management reporting, and tracking finance KPIs.
- Treasury: Monitoring bank positions, cash forecasting, executing payments, and handling FX.
- Budgeting & Forecasting: Exposure to FP&A or annual budgeting processes.
Who you are
Your are organised, proactive, analytical and hands-on. You are comfortable working independently, taking ownership of tasks, identifying issues and following them through to resolution.
You have a learner and a doer mindset, with a strong bias towards action. You thrive in wearing multiple hats and are not afraid to roll up your sleeves. You are curious about the world and excited to bring operational insights into the organisation.
What we expect
We don’t expect you to be an expert at everything, but you bring a solid foundation in core accounting principles and are ready to hit the ground running:
- 3–6 years of experience in Finance, Accounting, Controlling, FP&A or a similar environment.
- Solid understanding of core accounting and finance principles.
- Practical experience with AR, AP, reconciliations and month-end processes.
- Experience working with accounting systems and financial data.
- Strong Excel / Google Sheets skills.
- Experience working in a multi-entity or international environment is highly desirable.
- Fluent English. Fluent Spanish is highly valued
- Strong attention to detail without losing sight of the bigger picture.
- Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced and evolving environment.
- Ability to work from our Barcelona office 3 days per week
