As part of our commitment to the evolution of both our products and position as a leading supplier of innovative solutions to the UK water and drainage infrastructure industry we have a brand-new opportunity for a Civils & Drainage Design and Engineering Manager to join our Design & Engineering team.

So what's the mission?

The Design and Engineering Manager will play a key role in supporting the continued development and transformation of Marshalls Civils and Drainage focusing on Engineered Solutions, working across engineering, design, operations, manufacturing, commercial and project teams.

Reporting directly to the Head of Design and Engineering, the role will have a dual focus on business transformation and technical design support, helping to improve processes, systems, data and ways of working while also providing engineering input into bespoke precast concrete solutions for major energy, water management, wastewater and infrastructure projects.

Alongside the transformation remit, the Design and Engineering Manager will provide project and technical support for the development of bespoke precast elements, interpreting customer and project requirements and contributing to practical, manufacturable and commercially viable engineering solutions.

What are the mission-critical skills?

This is an opportunity to expand on your experiences and develop your career. We think this role would be suited to someone who has;

  • Experience working within a civil / structural design and technical environment (consultancy, design & build contractor or building products design & manufacturing business)
  • Civil engineering, structural engineering or construction related qualifications (degree qualified is preferred)
  • Accreditation to a professional body such as the IStructE or the ICE
  • Working knowledge of Eurocode 2 design, EN 1992 Part 1-1
  • Extensive knowledge of reinforced and pre-cast concrete design and loadings would be a distinct advantage
  • Problem solving skills
  • Proficient in the use of AutoCAD and structural engineering & modelling software packages (SCIA & Allplan experience would be ideal)
  • Ability to communicate and build relationships with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders
  • Be able to demonstrate flexibility to adapt and respond to change
  • Proven ability to motivate yourself and others to meet project deadlines
