Über die Rolle
We make immersive safety-training modules for industrial companies - oil & gas, energy, construction, datacenters. Our fastest-growing format is the Storybook: a short, illustrated, narrated video story - think a graphic novel brought to screen - where a recurring cast of characters lives through a real workplace hazard.
The stories are built almost entirely with an AI pipeline we've developed: story and dialogue drafted with LLMs, frames generated in a locked painterly style, voiceover and video generated from there.
We're looking for someone to run that pipeline end to end: turn a training brief into a story, the story into a storyboard, the storyboard into finished frames and video.
Why this matters
Frontline workers have seen a thousand bullet-point safety courses and remember none of them. What sticks is a story: a character they recognize, a decision that feels real, a consequence that lands. Every module we make starts from fixed learning objectives and real customer references - the story exists to teach, and every beat has to earn its place. The craft is making that invisible: a viewer should feel like they watched a good short film, and only afterwards realize they now know exactly when to stop a lift.
What you'll do
- Take a brief - learning objectives, a procedure, an incident report, customer reference photos - and find the story in it: characters, setting, a sequence of beats that teaches every objective
- Write the storyboard: shot by shot, with natural dialogue and narration, in our established format
- Generate the frames with our AI pipeline, in a locked art style with our recurring cast, keeping characters, outfits, equipment, and settings consistent from shot to shot
- Iterate until it's right: check every frame and every line against the learning objectives and the customer's references, and redo what doesn't hold up
- Brief our 2D artists on frames that need hand correction, and review what comes back
- Assemble the result into video: timing, pacing, holds, syncing narration to picture
- Run several modules in parallel and keep each one moving
- Where this could grow
- The pipeline is getting more capable every month, and we're scaling this format hard. Someone who proves they can own a module end to end - brief in, finished video out - can grow into owning delivery across a whole series, and into helping shape the pipeline itself: the templates, the prompts, the checks. The people who do best here treat the tools as their own and keep making them better.
The honest version
You don't pick what to teach - learning objectives arrive fixed, and a learning designer signs off the result. You don't pick the look - the art style and cast are locked, and accuracy to the customer's real equipment beats artistic preference every time. This is disciplined storytelling inside a tight frame, with a lot of iteration, at volume. If that constraint sounds like a fun puzzle - how good a story can you tell inside these walls - you'll thrive here and we'll keep you busy.
If you're looking for open-ended creative ownership of your own ideas, it won't be the right fit.
What we need from you
- Story craft - you can write a tight scene with dialogue that sounds like people talking, not a compliance manual. This is the core skill; everything else can be taught.
- Visual storytelling - you think in shots: what the camera sees, what changes between frames, when to hold and when to cut. A background in comics, animatics, video, or film - professional or serious hobby - is exactly right.
- Real fluency with AI tools - LLMs for drafting, image generation as a daily instrument. You know how to steer them, and more importantly you know when an output isn't good enough and needs another pass.
- Detail discipline - you work from reference photos and spec sheets, you notice when a harness is missing in frame 7, and you check your own work before anyone else has to.
- Clear coordination - you can brief an artist precisely, take feedback without friction, and keep multiple modules organized.
- The ability to read dry source material - procedures, regulations, incident reports - and pull a human story out of it.
- Reliable communication and availability with some overlap with UK working hours.
- Big bonus (not required): image editing or illustration skills. If you can open a generated frame in Photoshop, Procreate or Krita and fix it yourself - restore a missing glove, repair a mangled hand, match the style so the correction is invisible - you'll need our 2D artists far less and your modules will move faster. Tell us if this is you.
- Also nice to have: instructional design exposure, video editing (Premiere, Resolve, CapCut), motion graphics, or experience with safety, industrial or technical content.
