Department

Drainage/Depot Network consists of a strategically located depot network across the UK, spanning from Aberdeen to Plymouth. Enabling rapid response to customer requirements and providing round-the-clock coverage, 365 days a year.

This extensive footprint allows Lanes to combine local responsiveness with national capability, ensuring consistent service standards while maintaining close relationships with regional customers and infrastructure partners.

The Role

We are looking to appoint a JetVac Assistant to join our Stockon-on-Tees Depot. Working as part of a two person teams, you will be responsible for attending drainage related issues such as blockages, pipe clearing, cleansing and reactive call outs.

About the Role

• Location: Stockton-on-Tees
• Hours: Monday to Friday – 40 hours per week
• Salary: £13 - £14 per hour dependant on experience
• 21 Days holiday plus Bank Holidays

Key Responsibilities

• Operate machinery
• Ensure all H&S requirements are followed
• Communicate with customers about scheduled works and address any concerns.
• Assist in identifying drainage issues, including blockages, structural defects, infiltration, and root ingress.
• Operate high-pressure water jetting equipment to clean and clear drains, sewers, and pipework.
• Remove waste materials and prevent build-up in wastewater systems.
• Perform routine equipment checks and maintenance to ensure readiness.
• Support CCTV inspections to assess the condition of underground pipes and sewers.
• Assist in emergency response situations, including flooding and urgent drainage issues.
• Learn to complete job sheets, risk assessments, and method statements (RAMS) under supervision.

Experience

• Ability to work as part of a 2-person team.
• Strong health & safety awareness (desirable)
• Good communication and customer service skills.
• Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors.
• Basic IT skills and accurate completion of job sheets and RAMS.
• Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Drainage, construction, utilities, or plant operation experience is desirable but not essential.
• Full UK driving licence (required).
