Our award-winning products help our global community gain a deeper knowledge of their readiness, activity, and sleep quality by using their Oura Ring and its connected app. We've helped millions of people understand and improve their health by providing daily insights and practical steps to inspire healthy lifestyles.

Empowering the world starts with living our values and empowering our team. As a quickly growing company focused on helping people live healthier and happier lives, we ensure that our team members have what they need to do their best work — both in and out of the office.

Reporting to the VP of Global Litigation and Employment, you will serve as the company's foremost expert on international employment law outside the United States. You will be Oura's primary legal advisor to People (HR) and Legal leadership on all workforce matters across our global workforce, including offices in Finland, the United Kingdom, and Singapore, with further international expansion planned.

You may also be asked to assist with the corporate governance framework for Oura's international legal entities, ensuring each subsidiary operates in compliance with local law and group governance standards. This role sits at the intersection of legal strategy and operational execution. You will not only advise — you will roll up your sleeves to build policies, manage outside counsel, guide restructurings, and shape how Oura scales its global team responsibly and compliantly.

Location: This is a hybrid role out of our London office, UK.

International Employment Law

  • Serve as primary legal counsel to People and Legal leadership on all employment law matters across Oura's non-US offices, covering the full employee lifecycle from hiring through separation
  • Advise on hiring strategies and legal structures across jurisdictions, including permanent employment, fixed-term contracts, works council requirements, and compliant use of contractors and employer-of-record (EOR) arrangements
  • Draft, review, and maintain employment agreement templates, offer letters, and local addenda for each jurisdiction, ensuring compliance with applicable law while remaining commercially sensible
  • Lead the legal aspects of international employee relations matters, including performance management, disciplinary procedures, grievances, redundancies, and terminations, working closely with HR Business Partners and outside counsel where required
  • Advise on cross-border mobility matters including international assignments, secondments, remote work across borders, and the employment tax and immigration implications associated with each
  • Partner with the People team on the design and legal review of compensation and benefits structures across international markets, including equity plan compliance, works council consultation obligations, and statutory benefit requirements
  • Support international expansion into new markets by scoping employment law requirements, advising on entity vs. EOR tradeoffs and permanent establishment risk, and helping stand up compliant local employment frameworks
  • Monitor and interpret legislative and regulatory developments across Oura's international employment footprint and proactively update policies, templates, and practices to maintain compliance
  • Manage and provide strategic direction to external employment counsel across jurisdictions, ensuring quality, cost-effectiveness, and consistency with Oura's positions and culture

Corporate Governance Support - International Entities

  • Support the corporate governance framework for Oura's international subsidiaries, ensuring each entity operates in compliance with its articles of association, applicable company law, and group governance policies
  • Work with Finance and Tax on legal entity rationalization, intercompany agreements, and corporate restructuring transactions, providing legal support from structuring through implementation
  • Advise on governance best practices for a scaling private company with international operations, including director duties, conflicts policies, and subsidiary oversight frameworks
  • Support M&A, investment, and financing transactions as they affect international entities, including due diligence, disclosure, and post-closing integration

What you'll bring

  • Qualified lawyer with 10+ years of post-qualification experience in international employment law, with significant in-house experience at a multinational company or a combination of top-tier law firm and in-house roles
  • Deep experience in employment law across EMEA and APAC, including international equity compensation plan compliance, securities law and tax considerations
  • Meaningful experience with collective employment law, works council processes, and co-determination obligations in at least one European market
  • Familiarity with EOR provider management and the legal risks and limitations of EOR arrangements
  • Strong command of GDPR as it applies to employment and HR data practices
  • Excellent business judgment — you understand that the goal is compliant, fast, and fair outcomes, not perfect legal process for its own sake
  • Outstanding communication skills; ability to advise senior stakeholders clearly and directly, including on sensitive people matters
  • Experience managing outside counsel across multiple jurisdictions simultaneously, with an eye on quality and cost
  • Fluent in English; additional language proficiency is a plus
  • Comfortable operating with significant autonomy in a fast-scaling, high-growth environment where the legal function is still maturing
  • Experience in consumer technology, digital health, wearables, or another regulated consumer products industry is a plus!
