GLOBAL SUPPLY MANAGER, SEMICONDUCTOR ELECTRONIC COMPONENTS (STARLINK)

We are seeking an experienced Global Supply Manager to own end-to-end sourcing strategy, supplier management, and delivery of leading-edge semiconductor components. In this role, you will partner directly with design engineering, to define commodity strategy, build multi-year technology roadmaps, establish and maintain the approved vendor list, and secure massive-scale supply at the record-breaking build speeds the SpaceXAI team is driving.

You will negotiate transformative, high-value agreements, accelerate delivery timelines, actively manage inventory across the supply chain, and continuously optimize for cost, quality, speed, and supply chain resilience in one of the most competitive and dynamic AI infrastructure programs on the planet. The ideal candidate is a strategic leader who thrives in ambiguous, high-velocity environments, possesses exceptional commercial and technical acumen, and has a proven track record of delivering excellent results.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work directly with key internal stakeholders to develop/implement sourcing and cost management strategies; owning the semiconductor commodity
  • Understand the technical aspects of electronic components to identify opportunities for design selection, cost, and reliability
  • Own vendor management and negotiations to meet new product introduction (NPI) schedules
  • Create and own supply strategy to ensure production clear to build readiness and supply risk mitigation
  • Develop and manage supply base (domestic and international) for electronic components
  • Work directly with key suppliers to develop and implement sourcing and cost management strategies that support existing platforms and new product development
  • Evaluate demand while placing and managing purchase orders according to demand signals
  • Track delivery and supplier delivery performance
  • Provide guidance to internal engineering customers on recommended suppliers to use
  • Act as the supplier interface for all RFIs, RFPs, and RFQs
  • Monitor global industry trends, track technology roadmaps, and actively partner with the design teams to identify and mitigate supply and demand challenges
  • Partner with internal resources to drive adoption of low-cost parts and avoidance of obsolescence
  • Visit supplier facilities and accurately assess operational capability, financial health, and capacity to award contracts in support of new product development and long-term production
  • Conduct comprehensive supplier analysis, including strategic direction, capacity, market and industry position, and risk assessment
  • Manage costs to ensure alignment with program budget
  • Present value propositions to executives, including those related to contract award, cost reviews, cost reduction strategies, and critical supply issues
  • Work with supply chain engineers to develop requirements for both NPI and production phases
  • Negotiate contracts to ensure continuity of supply and protect SpaceX interests

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree and 6+ years of experience working in one or more of the following; or 10+ years of experience working in one or more of the following:
  • Engineering
  • Purchasing
  • Contract negotiation
  • Material or production planning
  • Operations or supply chain management
  • Material cost control
  • Master production scheduling

EXPERIENCE

  • Technical procurement or planning experience with electronic components, PCBs, or PCBAs
  • Experience in new product introduction (NPI) and mass production (MP)
  • Experience reading technical drawings, data sheets, fabrication drawing, BOMs and all related files
  • Drive piece price and tooling negotiation process to ensure that SpaceX’s commodity pricing meet best-in-class expectations, while meeting best-in-class quality, in addition to driving continual cost reduction and avoidance initiatives through ad-hoc price negotiations
  • Address all areas of category management including category business plans, market conditions, technology roadmaps, cost modeling, and sourcing strategies
  • Proven track record of taking ownership, successfully negotiating preferred pricing and driving results
  • Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and able to respond quickly in a fast-moving and ever-changing environment
  • Exceptional analytical, problem solving, and organizational skills
  • Effective written, verbal, and presentation communication skills
  • Conduct all activities with the highest level of integrity

REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to travel up to 50% of work week as needed (including international travel)
  • Must be able to work extended hours and/or weekends as needed to meet major milestones
  • This position is based in Bastrop, TX and requires being onsite - remote work not considered
