भूमिका के बारे में
About Abridge
Abridge was founded in 2018 with the mission of powering deeper understanding in healthcare. Our AI-powered platform was purpose-built for medical conversations, improving clinical documentation efficiencies while enabling clinicians to focus on what matters most—their patients.
Our enterprise-grade technology transforms patient-clinician conversations into structured clinical notes in real-time, with deep EMR integrations. Powered by Linked Evidence and our purpose-built, auditable AI, we are the only company that maps AI-generated summaries to ground truth, helping providers quickly trust and verify the output. As pioneers in generative AI for healthcare, we are setting the industry standards for the responsible deployment of AI across health systems.
We are a growing team of practicing MDs, AI scientists, PhDs, creatives, technologists, and engineers working together to empower people and make care make more sense. We have offices located in the Mission District in San Francisco, the SoHo neighborhood of New York, and East Liberty in Pittsburgh.
The Role
Abridge’s in-house legal team is a group of lawyers and legal professionals operating across multiple disciplines. As we continue to expand, we are looking for a practical, versatile product lawyer to join our growing legal team. The right person can identify the legal issue quickly, learn the product deeply, and give the business a practical path forward.
You will serve as a trusted advisor to product and engineering teams, embedding legal and compliance frameworks into our product lifecycle. You will own matters independently and help turn recurring questions into clear guidance and durable systems that support innovation while ensuring compliance with healthcare, privacy, and other regulatory requirements. This is a unique opportunity to be at the forefront of both AI and healthcare.
What You’ll Do
- Serve as a primary legal partner for our products and features from early design through launch and post-launch review.
- Partner with cross-functional teams including product, engineering, policy, partner experience, marketing, IT, finance, corporate development, and commercial to ensure alignment and mitigate risk.
- Review product launches, feature changes, user-facing disclosures, and marketing claims
- Develop and scale practical legal processes, frameworks, and templates that enable teams to move quickly with appropriate guardrails
- Provide actionable legal guidance on regulatory, privacy, and compliance matters, including the evolving AI/ML landscape.
- Flex across the broader Product, Privacy and Regulatory Legal portfolio as company priorities and risk change.
- Coordinate with external counsel to resolve specialist issues and ensure fast delivery of actionable legal guidance and risk analysis.
- Monitor emerging laws and regulations affecting Abridge’s products and data practices and advise internal stakeholders on their implications.
What You’ll Bring
- Passion for Abridge’s mission and the energy and drive to support fast-moving product and operational teams
- 5+ years of legal experience, including 3+ years in product counseling. Prior in-house experience at a technology company is a requirement.
- Working knowledge of privacy and data protection, consumer protection, and intellectual property issues as they apply to technology products
- Ability to spot issues across a broad range of legal areas, dig into unfamiliar regulatory questions, and know when to bring in specialist expertise
- Proven ability to communicate and translate complex regulatory and legal concepts into clear, practical guidance for non-legal counterparts and colleagues.
- Comfort and confidence with juggling a high volume of projects, tight timelines, and competing priorities.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and exercise business judgement; interest in joining a small team that prioritizes autonomy and trust.
- Proven ability to work cross-functionally, particularly with technical teams, designers, and commercial teams, building relationships and earning their confidence.
- Creativity in solving and navigating novel legal matters; experience in crafting new processes and language to meet the needs of a rapidly-moving enterprise in a novel industry.
Bonus Points If…
- Expertise in intellectual property, AI, or software and technology transactions (e.g., licensing, open source)
- Familiarity with recent trends in AI, particularly with large language models and responsible AI principles
- Prior experience at a growth-stage, AI-native, or healthcare technology company
- Strong understanding of and experience with federal and state healthcare laws, including HIPAA and state health privacy laws
- Experience with healthcare regulatory matters, including FDA, FTC, fraud, waste, and abuse laws, health data interoperability and information blocking rules, and related state laws
This role is in San Francisco or New York City. Monday/Wednesday/Friday are in office days.
