Overview of the Role
The Purchasing Coordinator is responsible for coordinating purchasing and managing inventory of resins, raw materials, and other production supplies for the Sika Gastonia plant. This role works closely with suppliers, production, warehouse, and other internal teams to maintain appropriate inventory levels, support production schedules, and ensure materials are available when needed.
What We Are Looking For!
- Purchase resins, raw materials, and other plant supplies in line with production needs and purchasing procedures.
- Monitor inventory levels, usage, open orders, and projected requirements to help prevent shortages and excess inventory.
- Create and manage purchase orders in SAP S/4HANA.
- Track supplier confirmations, lead times, deliveries, and order changes; follow up on late or at-risk shipments.
- Coordinate with production, planning, and warehouse teams to understand material requirements and resolve supply issues.
- Maintain accurate purchasing and inventory information in SAP S/4HANA, including order and delivery records.
- Communicate with suppliers about pricing, availability, specifications, delivery schedules, and order discrepancies.
- Review purchasing and inventory reports, identify potential issues, and recommend appropriate actions.
- Help resolve discrepancies involving purchase orders, receipts, invoices, or inventory records.
- Support supplier performance reviews, cost-control efforts, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Follow company purchasing processes and applicable safety, quality, and recordkeeping requirements.
Qualifications
What You Will Bring!
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Business, Operations, or a related field.
- Experience using SAP S/4HANA for purchasing, inventory, or related supply-chain processes.
- Experience in purchasing, procurement, inventory control, or supply-chain coordination.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Effective communication skills when working with suppliers and cross-functional teams.
- Proficiency with spreadsheets and standard business software.
- Experience purchasing or managing inventory for resins, chemicals, raw materials, or manufacturing supplies.
- Familiarity with production planning, inventory replenishment, and supplier lead-time management.
- Experience working in a manufacturing or plant environment.
