POSITION SUMMARY
The HSE Director leads Health, Safety, and Environmental initiatives across Region AME ISE, ensuring regulatory compliance while fostering a strong safety culture and continuous improvement. This role is critical to mitigating risk, reducing workplace incidents, and advancing sustainable environmental practices. As a member of both the Region AME ISE management team and the global ISE HSE leadership team, the HSE Director collaborates closely with the Konecranes Group VP of HSE and Crisis Management.
The role includes direct oversight of the HSE team within AME countries.
Safety Leadership
Implement the Konecranes HSE policy, strategy, and standards across the AME Region and develop region-specific initiatives to foster a strong safety culture.
Lead the ISE AME HSE team, providing direction, support, and mentorship to uphold high standards of safety and environmental performance.
Promote a proactive HSE culture across all levels of the organization to foster accountability and engagement in safety initiatives.
Compliance & Regulatory Management
Ensure compliance with all applicable local, national, and international HSE laws, regulations, and standards.
Maintaining open communication and ensuring timely reporting of incidents, audits, and compliance issues.
Stay up to date with evolving regulations and industry best practices, advising senior leadership on necessary changes.
Risk Management & Incident Investigation
Identify potential HSE risks and implement effective risk-management strategies.
Lead incident investigations, ensuring thorough root-cause analysis and the implementation of corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
Oversee the development and maintenance of emergency preparedness and response plans.
Training & Development
Develop and implement ongoing training programs to continually improve the organization's HSE competency and awareness.
Performance Measurement & Continuous Improvement
Monitor and analyze HSE performance metrics, providing regular reports to senior leadership.
Drive continuous improvement through the identification of trends, opportunities, and implementation of new HSE programs and initiatives.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Ensure employees at all levels are trained in HSE policies, procedures, and best practices.
REQUIRED SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
Strong knowledge of HSE regulations and industry standards (e.g., OSHA, MSHA, ISO 45001, ISO 14001).
Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience in incident investigation and risk management.
Ability to influence and collaborate with cross-functional teams and with senior leadership.
Ability to lead and develop a diverse team.
EXPERIENCE
10+ years of experience in HSE roles or similar, including 5+ years in a leadership role.
Proven track record of developing and implementing HSE programs in a manufacturing, industrial, or construction environment, including change management and the development of a safety culture.
Bachelor’s degree. Preferred areas of study: Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field. A master’s degree is preferred.
Professional certifications are preferred.
REQUIREMENTS
Ability to travel internationally, locally and outside the service area for operational requirements & training when necessary.
30% Travel may be required.
