Job Title: Student Support and Training Coordinator- ESOL and Workforce

The salary for this position is: $55,000 - $65.000 annually.

Summary: The International Center provides educational programming for newly arrived immigrants and

refugees with the goal of improving learners’ English proficiency and communication skills. The Student Support and Training Coordinator will work with students enrolled in the Bridge to Healthcare Program.

This program will identify and recruit qualified adult students who are interested in careers in healthcare and related fields and offer access to an enhanced training program as well as placement with employers upon graduation. Under the supervision of the Project Manager, the Student Support and Training Coordinator will provide individual support to the students enrolled in ESOL and workforce programing to address education, training, and social service needs to help participants persist in the program.

This position will also support the operational and administrative needs of the program.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Operational

Responsibilities

  • Assisting with participant recruitment by conducting individual and community outreach, presentations and/or workshops, which may be in person and/or virtual.
  • Preparing materials and resources for outreach, presentations and/or workshops. Translating materials into Spanish, as needed.
  • Assisting with program intake and assessment using standardized tests and program-specific assessments
  • Registering students’ information in ECM and other databases to track data and metrics in accordance with contract and internal reporting requirements.
  • In collaboration with team, coordinating and facilitating program-related events.
  • Coordinating with community and program partners, including training schools, to support student engagement and success.
  • Case management

Responsibilities

  • Conducting regular outreach to support student participation and success in each phase of the Bridge to Healthcare program.
  • Scheduling regular meetings with program participants to assess holistic needs, provide guidance, address barriers, and track engagement in appropriate databases, as necessary.
  • Actively researching relevant educational, medical, counseling, legal services, and benefits available in the NYC metropolitan area.
  • Administrative

Responsibilities

  • Shared responsibility for reception, telephones, mail, etc., as needed.
  • Attending meetings, conferences and seminars related to case management, student support, adult education, and workforce development.
  • Supporting other the International Center or agency activities, as requested.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position, and work hours are generally Monday through Friday with evening hours required; classes are held from 5 to 9:30pm. Weekend hours may be required to meet student needs.

  • Remain stationary at a workstation and in meetings and use a computer at least 75% of the time.

Education and/or experience required

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in related field, or graduation from high school and equivalent professional training related to the position.
  • Previous experience working with clients/students from diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • Experience with community outreach a plus.

Skills, Licenses, and/or competencies required

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, etc.), Google Drive Suite, WhatsApp, and Zoom; ability to learn new platforms and databases as needed;
  • Highly motivated and self-starter;
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to communicate politely and professionally with staff, volunteers as well as the public; and
  • Excellent teamwork, interpersonal skills, and cultural responsiveness.
