About the Role
The Portfolio Marketing Manager will partner with WM Partners’ Functional Team and portfolio-company leadership to identify and execute marketing initiatives that accelerate profitable growth. This person will work across multiple health, wellness, and consumer brands, translating business objectives into practical marketing strategies and measurable programs.
This is a leader-doer role. The successful candidate will be equally comfortable developing an annual growth strategy, advising senior stakeholders, managing agencies, analyzing performance, and directly executing campaigns when portfolio companies need hands-on support.
Responsibilities
- Assess each portfolio company’s brand, customer journey, channel mix, marketing capabilities, and growth opportunities.
- Develop prioritized marketing plans with brand leads aligned with revenue, profitability, customer acquisition, and retention objectives.
- Lead or support go-to-market strategies for new products, channels, markets, and brand initiatives.
- Analyze, diagnose, or directly improve direct-to-consumer and e-commerce performance across acquisition, conversion, merchandising, retention, and customer lifetime value along with key channel leads.
- Plan, execute, and optimize paid growth programs across relevant digital channels.
- Advise and develop lifecycle and retention strategies, including email, SMS, loyalty, subscription, and win-back programs.
- Support brand marketing, partnerships, events, experiential programs, and other growth initiatives appropriate to each portfolio company.
- Work with brand leads to establish and enforce performance targets, reporting frameworks, testing roadmaps, and marketing measurement practices.
- Manage relationships with agencies, freelancers, technology vendors, media partners, and other external resources.
- Work closely with portfolio-company executives and marketing teams to move from recommendation to execution.
- Capture successful playbooks and share insights, vendors, tools, and best practices across the WM Partners portfolio.
- Use AI and automation thoughtfully to accelerate research, content development, analysis, testing, and operational execution.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, business, or a related field, or equivalent relevant professional experience.
- At least eight years of management experience spanning performance marketing, brand marketing, growth, e-commerce, or go-to-market roles, with familiarity around full-channel P&Ls.
- Meaningful experience within consumer packaged goods, preferably health and wellness, food and beverage, beauty, personal care, supplements, or another lifestyle-oriented category.
- Demonstrated experience growing a direct-to-consumer or e-commerce business, with working knowledge of customer acquisition, conversion, retention, and lifetime-value levers.
- Hands-on experience planning, executing, and optimizing campaigns across multiple marketing channels.
- Ability to connect marketing activity to commercial outcomes such as revenue growth, contribution margin, customer acquisition cost, return on advertising spend, retention, and lifetime value.
- Experience managing marketing budgets and allocating resources based on expected impact and performance.
- Strong analytical skills, including the ability to interpret campaign, customer, and commercial data and turn findings into clear recommendations.
- Experience managing agencies, vendors, and cross-functional stakeholders while maintaining accountability for timelines, budgets, and results.
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills, including the ability to communicate complex performance findings through concise executive-level narratives.
- Strong project-management skills and the ability to prioritize effectively across multiple companies, brands, and initiatives.
- A self-directed and adaptable working style, with a willingness to move between strategic leadership and hands-on execution.
- Practical familiarity with AI-enabled marketing and productivity tools, paired with sound judgment regarding their appropriate use.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working both at an agency and within an operating brand.
- Experience supporting multiple brands, business units, clients, or portfolio companies simultaneously.
- Exposure to private equity, consulting, portfolio operations, or another environment centered on rapid value creation.
- Experience with omnichannel consumer brands spanning DTC, marketplaces, retail, and wholesale.
- Familiarity with common e-commerce, analytics, advertising, CRM, and lifecycle-marketing platforms.
