About the Role Our client, a prominent multinational corporation with extensive operations, is seeking an accomplished Lead Corporate Accountant to spearhead their accounting department. This critical leadership position will be based at their key office in Busaiteen, Muharraq, BH . The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of corporate accounting principles, a proven track record of managing complex financial operations, and the ability to drive strategic financial initiatives.
You will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of all corporate financial reporting, while also playing a key role in compliance, internal controls, and process optimization. This role demands a high level of expertise, integrity, and leadership to support the company's ongoing growth and success.
Key Responsibilities
Direct and oversee all aspects of corporate accounting, including general ledger management, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll accounting. Ensure compliance with all relevant accounting standards (e.g., IFRS, GAAP) and regulatory requirements. Lead the preparation and consolidation of financial statements for the parent company and its subsidiaries. Manage the month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring accuracy and adherence to strict deadlines.
Develop, implement, and maintain effective internal control systems to mitigate financial risks. Collaborate with internal and external auditors, facilitating smooth audit processes and ensuring timely resolution of issues. Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the accounting function, leveraging technology and best practices. Provide financial analysis and insights to support executive decision-making and strategic planning.
Mentor, train, and develop a team of accounting professionals, fostering a high-performance culture. Manage intercompany transactions and reconciliations.
Requirements
Master's degree in Accounting or Finance; professional certification (CPA, CMA, ACCA) is mandatory. A minimum of 8 years of progressively responsible experience in corporate accounting, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or leadership role. Extensive knowledge of IFRS and local Bahraini accounting standards. Proficiency with major ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills. Demonstrated experience in financial statement preparation, consolidation, and reporting.
Strong understanding of internal controls and risk management principles. Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Proven ability to manage complex projects and meet stringent deadlines. Experience in a multinational corporate environment is highly desirable. High level of integrity and ethical conduct.
