Construction Engineering Technician

This position supports NAVFAC EURAFCENT facilities, construction, and program requirements. The selected candidate will work as part of a multidisciplinary team supporting U.S. Navy and Department of Defense projects in Europe and will be employed locally through a third-party employer of record.

Position Summary

The Engineering Technician provides on-site quality-assurance and technical support for Navy and Department of Defense construction projects. The role observes field activities, documents progress, verifies compliance, and supports testing, commissioning, and project closeout. This is a full-time, primarily on-site position located in Vicenza, Italy; Sigonella, Sicily, Italy; Rota, Spain; or Souda Bay, Greece.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

• Receive, review, route, track, and maintain correspondence and administrative actions
• Create, classify, cross-reference, archive, and retrieve electronic and hard-copy records in accordance with established procedures
• Prepare and format letters, reports, spreadsheets, presentations, charts, and other office products
• Maintain databases, trackers, distribution lists, calendars, and recurring reports
• Provide reception and customer service support and coordinate visitor or installation access requests
• Track suspense items and follow up with staff to support timely completion of required actions
• Assist with travel orders, vouchers, requisitions, time and attendance, training records, organizational charts, and personnel paperwork

Key Qualifications

• Legal Work Authorization: Must already have the legal right to work in the country of the assigned duty station; U.S. visa or SOFA-status sponsorship is not available
• Working knowledge of civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, and environmental construction concepts, including vertical and horizontal facilities.
• Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, statements of work, schedules, testing requirements, and construction documentation
• Experience monitoring schedules and budgets and using scheduling software such as Primavera.
• Professional English proficiency sufficient to prepare reports, participate in meetings, and evaluate technical documents
• Knowledge of EM 385-1-1, applicable occupational-safety standards, and host-nation safety requirements.
• Ability to complete the required 40-hour EM 385-1-1 safety course within 90 days of assignment if not already current.
• Previous NAVFAC or other U.S. federal construction experience.
• Construction Quality Management training or certification.

Education

• At least three years of experience as an engineering technician, construction superintendent, quality-control or quality-assurance manager/representative, or contracting officer’s representative on Navy, DoD, host-nation, or similarly complex construction projects.
